Trendy Tieback Tricks

Pearls and sparkles tieback

Gone are the days of old fashioned tiebacks – you know the type, stiffened swathes of matching fabric finished off with gold rings that hook to the wall…? Though they do the job of pulling back curtains and effectively dressing a window, the formality of old school tiebacks makes them a little bit frumpy for the modern space.

If you share our views on curtain accessories, you’ll be thrilled to discover a variety of fresh and stylish ways to hold your curtains open. Just because you have an aversion to traditional tiebacks, doesn’t mean you have to leave your curtains to hang freely! Which is your favourite?

#1 – The Key to Classy Curtains

The key to classy curtains

We adore this enchanting tieback. The simple chain is adorned with heart-shaped charms and an ancient key, transforming the plain, pale curtain into a mystical masterpiece. This design has a vintage feel and brings a cool, quirky style to the room while simultaneously injecting history and originality into the space. We think this tieback would look amazing against a regal, richly coloured fabric.

#2 – A Multifaceted Door Handle

Crystal doorknob curtain tieback

We’re big fans of reclaimed doorknobs as tiebacks for curtains, and this example demonstrates exactly why. Simple and effortlessly chic, the faceted glass handle paired with an aged metal base is a timeless, stylish window dressing accessory. Pair with a softly coloured curtain and you’re good to go!

#2 – Nautical Knots

This rope tieback is the perfect example of less is more. Though it looks great against the neutral grey fabric, it wouldn’t look out of place against a brighter, more vibrant curtain. Bringing a cool maritime feel to the room, it is simple, durable, and totally versatile.

#4 – Metal Blossom

Iron floral holdback

We love this curtain tieback. Flowers and leaves fashioned from metal is an effective juxtaposition, while the bright white roses pop out of the design, adding yet another layer to the window treatment. Though this example shows the holdback with textured cream curtains, it would also look great with more vivid shades.

#5 – A Pearl of Wisdom

Last but by no means least, this ornamental pearl tieback is easily our favourite. This curtain accessory wouldn’t look amiss on the catwalk, and would fit in seamlessly with any colour scheme, whether it be light and airy or dark and dramatic.
